Volunteering Day at Loddon School
On the 25th of August we returned to Loddon School, 5 months after we helped with some of the pathways and site clearance. This time we helped create a new pay and sensory area for the children.
We were blessed with the weather, although the team in the woods definitely had the cooler spot out of the direct sun.
The men's team were tasked with renovating an old play kitchen unit which needed several bits removing, a good clean up and a new coat of preservative.
The ladies, were tasked with creating a new sandpit and some tyre seats which were to be decorated and placed around the area.
Unfortunately we ran out of time but the end result looked very different to the area we walked into and just needs a few finishing touches to be ready for the pupils to use.
It was a great day for our volunteers and the Loddon School team and we hope the students will enjoy the results as much as we enjoyed creating them.
Not only is it rewarding to see the progress that we made in the day, being able to talk to staff as we worked means we also started to understand the impact that this will have on the children. We will be back later in the year!!
